Who We Are
Samford Worship Collective (“SWC” or “Collective”) is 91¹û¶³’s flagship worship team, committed to leading others to encounter the Gospel of Christ through effective worship leadership. We aim to encourage others to worship God and proclaim the Gospel in spirit and truth.
Founded in 2017 as the “Worship Arts Ensemble (WAE),” the group focused on various creative expressions of worship artistry ranging from drama, dance and visual art. The group has since evolved to focus more on developing student worship leaders and serving the church and university community by leading corporate worship.
Our goal is not only to grow musically but also spiritually and relationally as a team. Beyond rehearsals, our weekly team meetings consist of discussing worship materials and praying together. We desire to be a worship leadership team that is growing deeper in our faith as we grow closer to the Lord and one another.
Some things we are looking toward the future include weekend ministry and recruiting tours, recording new songs for worship (written by our students), and video/audio recording project.
“The Worship Collective has been the most refreshing part of my freshman year here at Samford. Getting to spend time with people who share the same passion I have for worship has been a significant highlight of my year. I’ve enjoyed the unique opportunities we’ve had to lead at different churches and events, and I’ve grown just from getting to be in environments that I usually wouldn’t find myself in.” —Jeremy Sigmon
“The Worship Collective has been a defining community in my time at Samford. Through serving as a team captain and vice president, I have grown as both a leader and a follower of Christ within a culture marked by faithfulness, preparation, and genuine care for others. Walking alongside friends who feel like family and gifted musicians has pushed me to pursue excellence on and off the platform. The Worship Collective is a place where people are formed, called, and sent out to lead with excellence wherever God places them.” —Avery Kennedy
