This is a position under the Federal Work study program.
Selected candidate will work under close supervision of the Principal Investigator at a fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) lab at the McWhorter School of Pharmacy. We use the fruit fly model to test the effect of various drugs on locomotion, behavioral and metabolic phenotypes using a fly model of Alzheimer’s disease. Duties include:

1. Fly food preparation
2. Maintain stocks of fruit flies by transferring them from old to new vials.
3. Maintenance of genetic crosses.
4. Prepare and maintain supplies for fly handling and experimental procedures.
5. Assists in experimental design and project planning.

Federal Work/Study earnings will be paid biweekly in the form of a check or direct deposit payable to the student. This award does not credit to the account of the student as payment toward University charges.
